Cullen had his last Latham adjustment on Friday. As always he did really well. In fact when the nurse walked in she said "oh good! it is the easy one!" That's my boy. While at the orthodontist we met another family whose daughter looks nearly the same as Cullen. Give or take, well really just take, 5 pounds. Yup, she is 3 days older than Cullen, weighs 5 pounds less and is sporting a bilateral cleft lip and palate. Her father also had a cleft lip and palate as a child which were both repaired at Texas Children's Hospital 30 years ago. Cullen did his best to flirt with the baby and her mother, all in full sight of dad/husband. Once again, that's my boy.
The orthodontist said that Cullen doesn't need any further adjustments and that the Latham has done what he wanted it to do. From his standpoint, the surgery is a go. We visited Cullen's pediatrician last week and received much the same response. 1) Cullen is 'healthy' (READ: HUGE!) 2) He has been and is still ear infection free 3) Developmentally he is right on track. From her perspective the surgery is a go. We will visit the ENT on Monday and hope to hear the same response.
Cleft aside, Cullen really, really, really wants to be older than he is. He is trying to crawl, loves to stand up and sit up. He is clearly no longer interested in laying on a blanket on the floor staring at the ceiling fan. Sigh- those were the days. He is very interested in the idea of eating solid food, but not so interested in rice cereal. I think if I could blend up whatever Brady was eating Cullen would be a happy boy.
Brady has a new phrase that was lovingly taught to him by his Daddy... "Stall tactics don't work in my house." Yup, you read it right. Brady has learned to stall before bath time, bed time, going to school, eating, etc, etc, etc. He said it at school and they were just a wee bit confused. Of course, he said it during nap time while he wasn't napping like all the other kids. Instead he was charming the teachers and eating their lunch with them. Little flirt. That's my boy.

Cullen will be there before you know it, and if he listen's to his big brother, it'll be watch out world the McGarr boys are on a roll. Thrilled Cullen's progress is moving smoothely. Luv ya, Mom
