Mommy, Wipe Cullen's boogers!!

Well Day 1 at home has gone well, no complications and Cullen is taking to his new digs. He spent the night and most of the day on either Rebecca or myself and occassionally got down on the ground to play with a toy or two. He really, really doesn't like the arm restraints and tried crawling with them - which is like doing a bear crawl from 7th grade football practice - not fun and definitely not something that a 9 mos old should have to endure. He watched more Einstein and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse - so much so that we are all doing the hot dog dance around here!!

He decided that the Tylenol with Codeine was really not for him after he figured out what was going on this afternoon....projectile is one way of describing it another is a true test for Tide with Stain remover. I got to be the lucky recipient and in my nicest of voices politely informed my wife who was trying to get in a quick lunch...what fun. I am pretty sure this was Cullen's way of saying that the world had spun enough and he was ready to get off!!!

Cullen decided that formula wasn't so bad and had some for dinner after being on Pedialyte for the last 24 hrs. Brady got home today to see Cullen for the first time since the surgery. On the way home from school, he and I talked about the surgery and that Cullen's bo bo was fixed at the hospital and that we needed to be gentle like when he was a baby. We also discussed the finer things of being quite and a good big brother because he also had his ears worked on and now didn't need a screaming brother around the house. Lastly, Brady and I talked about how Cullen was not going to be laughing and smiling because the doctors had repaired his lip and he had to learn how to laugh again and smiling hurt his bo bo...Now that was some good parenting and much to my amazement something stuck. Brady got out of the car and took his blanket to Cullen. " Here Cullen, here's my blanket for you, Mommy, Cullen has lots of boogers, wipe them. " So I must have not described the stitches right, but I would say he got the jist of the conversation!!!

  1. I believe that there is a bond between the boys that will last them a life time. Brady seems to be very protective of his brother and it seems as though Cullen gets it also. Glad to hear Cullen is making good progress in healing. God knows all five of you need a well deserved break.
